ReplyDeleteChristine
Christine, Zoe and Alexx I think that wearing your Me to We T-shirts is a great idea. Have a great weekend! Ms R 8)

Are the me to we t-shirts formal enough?Zoe
ReplyDeleteThis is I am going to say: The Vow of Silence symbolizes children in developing countries who don’t have a voice. 218 million children around the world have to work when were learning in school, playing or sleeping. The children don’t choose to go to work; they have to because they live in poverty. At school we all friends to talk to, if we get hurt or we need advice we have someone who will listen. These children spend hours working in silence. They have no one to talk to. We are loud and strong as a group but alone we are silent. On November 20th we will stand up for those who have no voice or no rights. What do you think? Alexx
ReplyDeleteHey Ladies...if you think the t shirts are too informal. Then you can go with more a more formal look. This is your meeting and I totally trust your judgement. Great suggestion Zoe.
ReplyDeleteWow Alexx I think your part of the presentation sounds great. Also try making a connection that these students are just like you and that they too want and need the same things as any other child. The silence could also represent students in our own community that don't have a voice.
ReplyDeleteHey Guys,
ReplyDeleteDo yo think that we need to bring relly nice shoes or can we just use the ordinary track/gym shoes?
Christine
Hey Guys this is what I'm going to say please tell me any suggestions that you think I need:
ReplyDeleteAs The Be The Change Group we believe the Vow Of Silence would look like kids being quite respecting the fact that the vow Of Silence is taking place. In the morning teachers will take attendance reminding them that the vow Of Silence is taking place and encouraging them not to talk in support of kids not having a voice. We as the Be The Change group believe that it's important for everybody to be aware of the issue, so we would like the Primary Division to go until lunch so that they can get ready verbally, also we would like the Junior kids to go until 3:00 because the Junior division would understand more and we know they are able to. The Be the Change committee agreed to do it for 24h because we know the most about the initiative and we support and believe in the cause. When the Vow Of Silence is taking place we would ask teachers to write a detailed schedule on what needs to be done. The primary could bring a small donation if they would like but they would all participate, also it would be the same for the junior if they would like to bring a small donation on plead sheets, then give it in it would be appreciated.
Christine

ReplyDeleteWe, the be the change student committee of 2009-2010 are using determination and group efforts to help build a we community and a better tomorrow. Our mission as leadership group is as stated in our mission statement.: We "the be the change" student committee of Mcmurrich believe in building a community of respect and empathy. As a leadership group we are determined to promote the eight millennium developmental goals and empower our community to make a difference. Throughout this year, we will learn how to become globally aware on issues of child labour, gender inequalities, and polluted water by implementing initiatives toward the Alternative Income Program, Adopt a Village campaign. We are children helping children. We are using our blog to communicate when we are not at school. We take a look at the other members comments, as well as making our own, when we are on the blog and make suggestions to improve their ideas. We are going to make a change!!
by the way the comment that included the mission statement was by Zoe

ReplyDeleteHow did it go.

Julia
It went really well and I think who ever makes an anouncement to Ms.Davis next time should try not to look at the paper to much and try to make eye contact.
ReplyDeleteChristine
Christine I agree with you... it is important that you give eye contact to the person you are speaking to so that you make a personal connection. Considering it was your first time presenting you, Zoe and Alexx did an amazing job and made me really proud.
